IconAnn Kneeland specializes in public interest environmental and land use law. Her practice focuses on legal matters that promote sustainable and compatible growth, and protect the environment, including Oregon's farm and forest lands.

Ann is an active member of the Oregon bar, and an inactive member of the California bar. She has been admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the District of Oregon.

Ann is currently a member of the Eugene Planning Commission.

PRIOR EXPERIENCE

IconAfter moving to Lane County in 1999, Ann worked for seven years at Lane County Legal Aid Service in Eugene as a trial attorney in the Lane County Circuit Court. At Legal Aid, Ann served both as the Director and Staff Attorney of the Domestic Violence Clinic, and taught a Domestic Violence seminar as an adjunct professor at the University of Oregon, School of Law. During this time, she briefed and argued cases before the Oregon Court of Appeals and the Oregon Supreme Court.

Before moving to Oregon, Ann had an administrative law practice which focused on welfare advocacy at a community-based agency in Berkeley, California.

Prior to her legal career, Ann did fundraising and development work for UNICEF in New York City, the Diocese of Namibia in Odibo and Windhoek, Namibia, and the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law in Washington DC.

EDUCATION

Ann graduated from Duke University in 1989, and from Georgetown University Law Center in 1998.
